Cloudera Statement of Work for Hadoop Cluster Health Check

The following scope of work, schedule, Deliverables, acceptance terms and success criteria (collectively, the “Statement of Work” or “SOW”) will apply to the provision of the Services set forth in the Order Form.

1 Introduction

Customer is seeking services and system architecture consulting from Cloudera for reviewing Hadoop requirements, administration and management, and performing a Hadoop cluster health check.

This SOW describes the Services, process and terms for this engagement. Cloudera will review Customer’s Hadoop cluster and provide recommendations and best practices with the anticipated outcome being that Customer will have a Cloudera Hadoop cluster ready for implementation of production workloads.

2 Project Scope and Objectives

2.1 Review Cluster Hardware

Cloudera will review Customer's cluster hardware including the number of nodes, node specifications, and network architecture. Cloudera will evaluate the cluster's suitability to the Hadoop application based on data volumes, data processing job implementation, analytic processes, and data publishing SLAs.

2.2 Perform Hadoop Tests and Benchmarking

Cloudera will run standard and specialized performance tests to detect bottlenecks and suggest improvements. Cloudera will provide a performance-tuning guidance document. Cloudera will examine how data compression/decompression affects execution time and storage requirements and suggest improvements. Cloudera will evaluate current scheduler configuration and suggest improvements.

2.3 Review Hadoop Configuration

Cloudera will review the recommended cluster configuration with Customer. Cloudera will describe the configuration changes required based on the specifics of cluster deployment, Customer requirements or benchmarking results. Customer will confirm review of the final cluster configuration.

2.4 Review Management and Monitoring Process

Cloudera will review cluster configuration management and monitoring processes. This review will include an evaluation of cluster deployment and configuration management tools, monitoring practices, and alerting configuration.

2.5 Review Production Procedures

Cloudera will review practices for production cluster procedures including replacing, adding and removing hardware; cluster maintenance; and cluster troubleshooting.

2.6 Documentation

Cloudera will deliver documentation detailing specifics of the Hadoop configuration and applicable best practices compiled by the Cloudera Professional Services team.

4 Deliverables, Acceptance and Success Criteria

The Deliverables (as defined in Section 14 of the Statement of Work Terms) for this engagement will be provided to Customer for acceptance. The Deliverables will be the documents as described in Section 2.6.

This engagement will be deemed successful and complete once the scope of work items are completed and the Deliverables are accepted by Customer as per the acceptance process in Section 14 of the Statement of Work Terms.
